Deyara Morris Burns was born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland, and in July 2020, she married the love of her life Deacon Darius Burns. As a product of a single-parent household, raised by her mother, she has overcome many obstacles, such as homelessness and poverty. Through these obstacles, she can find a drive to want to help others, particularly the youth of Baltimore.

Deyara was ordained as a Deaconess on January 20, 2019. On January 16, 2022, she was ordained as a Pastor at Power House World Ministries by the presiding Bishop James A. Winslow, Jr, where she is now the presiding Youth Pastor.

Deyara has a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics and Art with a minor in African American Studies from Syracuse University, where she graduated Magna Cum Laude in 2016. In 2018, she graduated with a Master of Science in Education from Johns Hopkins University. In 2022, she earned a Master of Social Work from the University of Maryland, Baltimore, specializing in macro social work with a concentration in Organizational Leadership.

Deyara Morris Burns has spent her life using her personal and career experiences to help others and give back to her community. Deyara is an executive board member at the 29th Street Community Center, Inc., where she advocates for programming for youth and the surrounding community. She taught high school mathematics at a public charter school in the Baltimore City Public School System for four years. Two of which were part of a Teach for America Baltimore commitment before she felt the call to social work. She dreams of opening a community center through her church. The vision is that the community center would have youth afterschool programming, mentorships, summer camps, wraparound services such as social workers on staff to act as counselors when needed, provide employment opportunities, support groups for those with HIV or AIDS, offer services to our elder population, and meet the needs of Northeast Baltimore community. Deyara knows that she can not do this on her own, but she feels it is time to start making the dream a reality.

As a licensed social worker and pastor, she is passionate about advocating, empowering, and supporting the youth and families of Baltimore City and highlighting the strengths and assets of the community.

As a “Jill” of all trades, she began her business, D Designs and Consulting, LLC, in August of 2021. She wanted to create a business owned and operated by an African American woman. It is hard to find a compassionate person willing to work with clients for their design, consulting, and planning needs all wrapped in one package. Deyara believes that through her business, she may help others, particularly the African American community, flourish within their businesses!

Whether you need website design, event planning, business or church consultation, family vacation planning, and so much more… Deyara Morris Burns is who you need!
